American cruiser USS Vesuvius useless according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1907-1908 No. 8

An item reported that in the USA efforts were done to use the dynamite cruiser Vesuvius which proved to be useless during the war with Spain.(1) The problems were caused by the elevation angle of the tubes making necessary to alter the air charges by chancing the distance which was a disaster with some sea.
