Dutch ship Stad Enschedé transported troops to the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 11 July 1857

An item reported the intended departure of a detachment of 150 non-commissioned officers and sailors on the 9th from Harderwijk, Netherlands towards Nieuwediep, Netherlands and to embark on the 11th the Dutch ship Stad Enschedé captain M.J.B. Noordhoek Regt bound for the Dutch East Indies. The detachment was commanded by the retired captain of the Dutch East Indies army J.E. Scheltens accompanied by 2nd artillery lieutenant G.G. Bernie and officer of health 3rd class C.F. Erdbrink.
