Dutch ship Stad Assen transported troops to the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Samarangsch advertentie-blad dated 8 January 1858

An item reported the departure on the 2nd [November 1857?] from Nieuwediep, Netherlands by the Dutch ship Stad Assen captain Haverbult bound for Batavia, Dutch East Indies with a detachment of 100 non-commissioned officers and soldiers commanded by 1st infantry lieutenant J.J. G. Hennequin accompanied by 1st lieutenant C. Metzeler and 2nd lieutenant L.M.H. Berkey and officers 3rd class Sinnighe and C.W.F. Foreman.
