Dutch corvette Zr.Ms. Boreas ordered to be commissioned and paddle steamship 3rd class Zr.Ms. Etna stationed at Vlissingen, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 10 October 1839


An item reported that the Dutch corvette Zr.Ms. Boreas (1) lying in the Rijks dok [Dokhaven] at Vlissingen, Netherlands was to be fitted out around the 15th to be commissioned. Further more was the Dutch steamboat Zr.Ms. Etna captain lieutenant Van Frank to be stationed at Vlissingen.

Soetermeer, launched on 22 March 1833, sold in the Dutch East Indies in 1857, displacement 776 tons, dimensions 36,5 (between perpendiculars) x 10,0 (inner hull) x 4,25 (fore)-4,82 (aft) x 5,39 (depth below maindeck) metres and an armament of 28 guns:20-12pd guns of 20-30pd carronades, 8-12pd carronades and 2-6pd guns.

Cores de Vries on Saturday morning 2 April 1864, dimensions 47,00 (between perpendiculars) x 9,00 (inner hull)x 3,45 (armed) x 5,04 (hold below main deck) metres, an armament of 4 guns (peace time 2 long and 2 short 30pd guns, in wartime 2-30pd bomb guns and 2-short 30pd guns), 178 hp horsepower and a crew numbering 100 men.
