German armoured frigate Deutschland built in England nearly completed according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch handelsblad dated 28 September 1875

An item reported that the German armoured frigate Deutschland built at the shipyard of Samuda Brothers. London, England was nearly completed. The armour was 10” thick, the draught 24,5 feet, the horsepower 8.000 hp, rigged like a ship of the line 2nd class and with a crew numbering 600 men. Despite she was designed as a battery ship were her two-26cm guns at the front able to fire straight forward. The 2-26 cm guns at the aft were not able to fire straight ahead but just 150 degrees out of the centreline.
