Turkish naval submarine commission visited Dutch submarines at Rotterdam and Nieuwediep, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 8 January 1925

Ikinci Inonu

An item reported that a Turkish commission of the submarine service visited the shipyard of Fijenoord, Rotterdam, Netherlands to see the Dutch submarine K XI and a submarine of the Dutch O-class there being built and at Nieuwdiep, Netherlands was the K XII sighted. (1)

1. The result was that the shipyard Fijenoord was ordered to built the Birinci Inönü launched on 29 January 1927 and the Ikinci Inönü launched on 12 March 1927, both decommissioned in 1948. For these submarines was a design of N.V. Ingenieurskantoor voor Scheepsbouw (Inkavos), The Hague, Netherlands in fact a German office to preserve the German technical/operational submarine knowledge.
At that moment was the O 10 being built, laid down on 24 December 1922, launched on 19 March 1925 and commissioned on 18 January 1925.
The K XI was also built at Fijenoord, laid down on 9 December 1922, launched on 24 April 1924 and commissioned on 18 November 1924.
The KXII was also built at Fijenoord, laid down on 9 January 1923, launched on 15 July 1924 and commissioned on 19 May 1925.
The Dutch submarines of the K-class were built for the Dutch East Indies and of the O-class for the European waters.
