American frigate USS Mississippi transporting Hungarian refugees towards the USA according to the Dutch newspaper Zierikzeesche Courant dated 17 September 1851

An item dated Frankfurt, Germany 12th reported the arrival of the American frigate USS Mississippi (1) at Constantinople to pick up Kossuth (2) and other Hungarian refugees and transport them to the USA.

Notes
1. Paddle steam frigate laid down at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, USA in 1839, launched in 1842, commissioned on 22 December, destroyed the ra, CSS Manassas on 24 April 1862, run aground while passing Port Hudson, Lousiana  and scuttled on 14 March 1863. Sister ship of the USS Missouri.
2. Lajos (Louis) Kossuth de Udvard et Kossuthfalva (19 September 1802-20 March 1894, lawyer, journalist, politician and even governor-president of the Kingdom of Hungary in1848-1849 when Hungary seek for independence from Austria.
