French dredger Talcahuano launched at Schiedam, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Schiedamsche Courant dated 27 October 1910

An item reported the launching that morning at the shipyard Gusto (firm A.F. Smulders), Schiedam, Netherlands of the steam dredger Talcahuano destined towards Toong-gin, China. The newspaper Schiedamsche Courant dated 29th supplied different details. An item reported the launching a day earlier at the shipyard Gusto (firm A.F. Smulders), Schiedam, Netherlands the steel made hull of a steam suction dredger built for French account. Dimensions 41 x 7,50 x 3,30 metres.  To be fitted with two main engines ach of 250 hp and the necessary steam winches and further more 2 boilers, each with a heating surface of 90 square metres and 8 atmosphere pressure. Working depth 14 metres and using buckets with a capacity of 600 litres dredging capacity of 350 cubic metres/hour to be loaded in barges or pressed away. Complete electrically lightened. Named Talcahuano. After being completed was she bound for Talcahuano, Chile using her own engines.
