Greek battle cruiser Salamis under construction in Germany according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1913 No. 5


An item reported that the Greek battle cruiser under construction by Vulkan was to be named Salamis. When she was completed she was to be armed with 4x2-35,6cm guns on the keel line, 12-15 guns in a casemate and 12-7,5cm guns. The machinery consisting of turbines delivering 40.000 ehp and driving 3 screws were to allow a speed of 23 knots. Armament and armour was to be delivered by the Bethlehem Steel Company. Building costs 36 million mark.(1)

1. Sometimes also called Vasilefs Georgias, building ordered in 1912, laid down by AG Vulkan, Hamburg, Germany on 23 July 1913, launched on 11 November 1914, never completed and broken up in 1932.
