Laid down by Appledore Shipbuilders, North Devon, United Kingdom in December 1997, launched in June 1997 and commissioned on 15 December 1999. Redesigned Vigilant of Mauritius concept by the STX Canada Marine (became the Yard Marine) and suitable for winter North Atlantic purposes. Steel built hull. Homeport Haulbowline Naval Base, pennant number P51, IMO 9192923, MMSI 25018000o and call sign EIWN. Of the Róisin-class with as sister ship the Niamh (P52). Standard displacement 1.500 tons and as dimensions 78,84 (over all) x 14,00 x 3,8 metres or 258.7 x 45.93 x 12 feet. The 2 Wartsilla medium speed diesels supplying 10.000kW/13.000hp allowing a speed of 15 (cruising)-23 knots (maximum) and a range of 6.000 nautical miles at cruising speed. Possesses 2 Delta 6,5metres/21 feet RHIBs and 1 Avon 5,4metres/18 feet RHIB. Her crew numbers 6 officers and 38 ratings. The armament consists of 1-7,6cm/3” OTO Melara Cannon,2-2cm/0.78” Rheinmetall Rh2-2 cannon, 2-12,7mm/0.50 H machineguns and 4-7,62mm GP machineguns.
