Japanese cable layer Ogasawara Maru 1906-1945

Built with yard number 189 by Mitsubishi Dockyard&Engineering Works, Nagasaki, Japan in 1906 and sunk by the Russian submarine L-12 off the west coast of Hokkaido, Japan on 22 August 1945. Gross tonnage 1,404 tons, under deck 1,282 tons, net tonnage 600 tons and as dimensions 74.1 x 10.4 x 6.8 metres or 243.2 x 34.0 x 22.3. Propulsion consisted of 2-3 cylinder triple expansion steam engines supplying 176 nhp. Call sign JOGD.
