Present state of Russian naval shipbuilding in Archangel-Murmansk area unknown in July 1942

American naval attaché at Moscow, Russia reported in July 1942 referred to a Russian Naval liaison Officer who stated that despite investigations he could not find any trace of shipbuilding in the Archangel-Murmansk area. However British and American representatives in that area claimed that before the outbreak of the war 2 destroyers at Molotovsk were laid down but since the outbreak was the construction halted.

1. At the Shipyard No. 402, Motovsk were laid down of the Ognevoy-class destroyers Project 30-K Stalin on 25 June 1940, launched on 19 July 1947 and the Osmotritelny on 5 May 1940, launched on 24 August 1947.
