An item Singapore 8th June reported that Japan tried to buy two armoured cruisers from Chile.(1)
Notes
1. Japan bought from Argentina two armoured cruisers of the Garibaldi-class laid down in 1902 as the Kasugaga-class Nisshin and preceded by the Azuma-class succeeded by Tsukuba-class. Kasuga was by Argentine named Mitre and later Rivadavia and the Nisshin respectively Roca and Mariano Moreno.
2. The Russo-Japanese war between 8 February 1904-5 September 1905.
