According
to tidings from the British consul at Lisbon dated until 4 April was the
expedition to send by Don Miguel to Terceira still not departed. The expedition
consisted of two parts. One of 500 men to send with 5 ships and another 2.800
men to send with the ship of the line Don Joao VI and 8 other ships. The
reasons for the delay were caused by lacking enough sailors and the diseases.
The frigate which was to blockade Terceira was 17 March still not sighted
there. [This would be the Perola according to a news item dated 30 June 1829].
