An item referred to the magazine U.S.R. dated 3 June 1937 reporting that a budget of 400.000 pound sterling was available for founding an aircraft base at Trincomalee, Ceylon for stationing a strong air force squadron to guard the important shipping line Ceylon-Singapore.
