Defence of Hong Kong to be strengthened according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1937 no. 4

An item referred to the magazine Marine Rundschau dated May 1937 reporting that the British government intended to strengthen the defence of Hong Kong by building 3 fortresses and doubling the anti aircraft batteries. Further were more aircraft especially heavy bombers to be stationed. The planned fortresses were presumably situated in the rocks at both sides of the harbour and at Kowloon. New roads along the coastline were needed to transport the anti aircraft batteries. Estimates costs 10 million pound sterling to divide over 5 years.
