Russian naval strength according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1935 no. 2


An item referred to the Annuaire de la Société des Nations consisted the Russian navy in August 1934 of 4 battleships Marat (1), Krasni-Leningrad, Révolution d’Octobre, Commune de Paris, 7 cruisers: Profintern, Voroshilov, Krasni-Kavkaz, Tchervonaïa Ukraïna, Krasnaia Bessarabia, Aurora, Komintern, 38 destroyers: 7 Petrowski, 4 Karl Marx, 1 Frunze, 14 Uritsky, 1 Karl Liebknecht, 3 Markin, 1 Marty, 1 Martynov, 2 Badina, 1 Konstruktor and 2 Zhenesniakov), 16 submarines (and 6 being built) namely 3 Spartokovetz (being built), 3 Dekabrist, 10 Bubnor, 1 Polihuk, 1 L 55 and 4 Holland and further more 72 gunboats, armoured boats, minelayers, minesweepers, training ships and son on, with a total tonnage of 195.465 tons.

1. Ceremonial laid down as Petropavlovsk at the Baltic Shipyard, St. Petersburg, Russia on 16 June 1909, building actually started September-October 1909, launched on 22 September 1911, commissioned on 5 January 1915, renamed Marat on 31 March 1921, rebuilt between 1928-1931, plans (Project 27) to rebuilt her again using the bow of her sister ship Frunze (ex-Poltava) were cancelled on 29 June 1948, renamed as a stationary training ship Volkhov on 28 November 1950, stricken on 4 September 1953 and finally broken up.
