Part of the D-class destroyers, preceded by the A-class and succeeded by the River or E-class. Building ordered under the 1896-1897 Navel Estimates, laid down by John I Thornycroft, Chiswick, England with yard number 320 as a so-called 2 funnel 30 knot destroyer on 25 September 1897, launched on 3 September 1898, commissioned in March 1900 and sold to Thos. W. War, Rainham to be broken up on 29 April 1920.
Displacement 270 (standard)-351 (full load) tons and as dimensions 64 (over all) x 6,02 x 2,34 metres or 210 x 19.9 x 7,8” feet. The machinery consisted of 2 vertical triple expansion steam engines and 4 Thornycroft water tube boilers supplying via 2 shafts 5.700 shp allowing a speed of 30 knots and with 11 knots speed and 80 tons coal bunker capacity a range of 1.310 nautical miles. Her crew numbered 65 men. The armament consisted of 1-12pd 12cwt Mark I L/40 quick firing guns, 5x1-6pd 8 cwt L/40 quick firing guns and 2x1-45cm/18” torpedo tubes.
