French destroyer Dunois launched at Cherbourg, France according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1897-1898 No. 7

An item referred to the magazine le Yacht reporting that the French destroyer Dunois (1) was launched on 6 October. She was the first ship except for the torpedo boat, to be fitted out with Normand tube boilers. Dimensions 78 x 8,5 x 3,88 (aft) metres and a displacement of 896 tons. The two triple expansion steam engines developed a horsepower of 6.400 ihp allowing a speed of 23 miles. Her crew was to number 128 Men (included 8 officers). The armament consisted of 6-6,5cm quick firing guns, 6-4,7cm quick firing guns and torpedo tubes.
