The Italian naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 24 December 1938

An item dated London, England 19th December referred to the newest Jane’s Fighting Ships which was just published. The news item was especially dealing with the shipbuilding programs of the major naval powers England, France, Italy, Japan added with Russia and Germany but strangely not mentioning the USA. The Italian program consisted of 4 battleships (1), 12 cruisers, 10 destroyers, 10 torpedo boats and at least 30 submarines.

1. The Littorio-class consisting of the Littorio, Vittorio Veneto, Roma and Impero with an main armament of 3x3-15” guns and a displacement of 45.236-45.485 tons.
