American merchant ship R.C. Slade sunk by German raider Seeadler in 1917

An item reported that the American merchant schooner R.C. Slade, gross tonnage 673 tons, was captured by the German raider Seeadler in the Pacific Ocean on the position 1.9 North 150.12 West on 18 June 1917, set on fire, abandoned and sunk without casualties.(1)

1. The Dutch newspaper Deli courant date 23 November 1917 called her a 4-mast schooner leaving Sydney, Australia on 24 April, bound for Washington, USA, a crew of 10 men, mainly loaded with copra. Master was the Danish-born but now American Holdor Smith.
