Japanese aircraft reconnoitring Gilbert an Ellice Islands according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 23 January 1942

An item reported that since 14 January Japanese aircraft daily flew over the Gilbert Islands apparently from their seaplane base at Makin. On 20 January were also the Ellice Islands reconnoitred.
