Code-named Momi. Type C3 cargo submarine. Nicknamed Golden Submarine while she carried gold to Germany as payment for delivered stores and technology. Laid down by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries on 18 March 1942, commissioned on 28 December 1943, stricken on 10 December 1944 and sunk in the Bay of Biscay by an American submarine hunting task force on 24 June 1944.
