Part of Hai Yung-class preceded by Tung Chi-class succeeded by Hai Qi-class. Laid down by AG Vulcan Stettin, Stettin, Germany in 1896, launched on 12 Feburary 1898, completed on 21 September 1898 and scuttled as a blockship at Jiangyin, China on 11 August 1937
