An item dated Buneos Aires 7 January reported that during a meeting Greece proposed to buy the Argentinean dreadnought Rivadavia completed in 1913. However it was believed that Argentina would not be very interested in negotiations.(1) The same newspaper published an item dated Constantinople, Turkey 7 January reporting that Reoef Bey commanding officer of the Turkish cruiser Hamidié (2) was appointed as commanding officer of the in England bought super deadnought Sultan Osman (the former Brazilian Rio de Janeiro).(3)

1. Part of Rivadavia-class preceded by Independencia-class, laid down by Fore River Shipbuilding Company on 25 May 1910, launched on 26 August 1911, commissioned on 27 August 1914, decommissioned in 1952, sold to Italy in 1957 and breaking up begun in 1959.
2. Protected cruiser built by Sir W.G. Armstrong, Whitworth&Co. Ltd., Newcastle, England between 1902-1904.
3. The Ottoman Empire bought in September 1913 from Brazil the Rio de Janeiro which was renamed Sultan Osman-I Evvel which was seized by in August 1914 and commissioned in the British Royal Navy as HMS Agincourt
