US Navy received three new battleships according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated Thursday 23 March 1916

An item referred to a telegram sent to the Frankfurter Zeitung reporting that the 28.000 tons battleship USS Oklahoma (1) was handed over to the American government. On next Monday was the similar sized Nevada (2) to follow and on 15 April 1-30.500 tons battleship, all three oil fuelled.

Part of Nevada-class preceded by New York-class succeeded by Pennsylvania-class, ordered on 4 March 1911, laid down by Fore River Shipbuilding Company on 4 November 1912, launched on 11 July 1914, commissioned on 11 March 1916, decommissioned on 29 August 1946, sunk as a target in Operation Crossroads on 31 July 1948 and stricken on 12 August 1948.

2. BB-37. Part of Nevada-class preceded by New York-class succeeded by Pennsylvania-class, ordered on 4 March 1911, laid down by New York Shipbuilding Corporation, Camden, New Jersey, USA on 26 October 1912, launched on 23 March 1914, commissioned on 2 May 1916, decommissiond on 1 September 944, sunk in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, refloated to be broken up but sunk under tow in 1947.

3. Probably the USS Pensylvania (BB-38), full load displacement 31,917 tons, part of Pennsylvania-class preceded by Nevada-class succeeded by New Mexico-class, ordered on 22 August 1912, laid down by Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company on 27 October 1913, launched on 16 March 1915, commissioned on 12 June 1916, decommissioned on 29 August 1946, scuttled off Kwajalein Atoll after the Operation Crossroads nuclear tests on 10 Feburary 1948 and stricken on 19 February 1948.
