Characteristics of German heavy cruisers Blücher and Admiral Hipper as reported to the British Admiralty on 13 November 1935

An item reported that the German Marineattaché captain Erwin Wassner at London informed the British Admiralty conform the Anglo-German Naval Agreement dated 18 June 1935 that the heavy cruisers G (1) and H (2) were laid down on 15 and 18 January 1935 and toe be completed in spring 1938. Standard displacement (article 6 of Treaty) 10,000 tons/10,160 metric tons and as dimensions 195,0 (waterline) x 21,3 (extreme beam at or below waterline) x 4,7 (mean draught at standard displacement) metres. Heaviest calibre 20.3cm.

Notes

1. Blücher ordered under contract name “G” to replace the light cruiser Berlin.

2. Admiral Hipper ordered under contract name H to replace the light cruiser Hamburg.
