Part of the Ibuki-class preceded by Tsukuba-class succeeded by Kongo-class. Ordered on 31 January 1905 but redesigned and armed with a heavier calibre of guns. Reclassified as battlecruisers in 1912. Laid down by Kure Naval Arsenal on 22 May 1907, launched on 21 November 1907, completed on 1 November 1909, stricken on 20 September 1923 and scrapped in 1923.
