Part of the Ibuki-class preceded by Tsukuba-class succeeded by Kongo-class. Ordered on 31 January 1905 but redesigned and armed with a heavier calibre of guns. Reclassified as battlecruisers in 1912. Laid down by Yokosuka Naval Arsenal on 23 August 1905, launched on 21 October 1907, completed on 28 February 1911, stricken on 20 September 1923 and scrapped in 1923.
