Japanese cargo ship (ex-Chojo Maru 1926-1938) Tyozyo Maru 1938-1944

Similar Tyoko Maru, Tyozyo Maru and Tyoan Maru. Call sign JTBB., Homeport Osaka, Japan. Laid down by Mitsubishi Zosen Kaisha Ltd., Nagasaki, Japan with yard number 424 on 20 February 926, launched on 21 December 1926, completed on 28 February 1927, requisitioned by the army and allotted as IJA No. 834 on 22 December 1942 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Tinosa (SS-283) in the Sulu Sea/ Gulf of Rianga on 16 February 1944. Gross tonnage 2,611 tons, under deck 1,898 tons, net tonnage 1,373 tons and as dimensions 284.5 x 45.5 x 23.0 feet. and speed 14 (normal cruising)-16.5 (maximum) knots.
