British proposal for an anonymous central battery ironclad proposed by rear admiral T.M. Symonds in 1865

Length 308 feet. Proposed by rear admiral T.M. Symonds, superintendent Devonport Dockyard 1862 on 1 January 1865.(1)

Note

1. Sir Thomas Matthew Charles Symonds (31 October 1811 Milford-on-Sea, England-14 November 1894 Sunny Hill, Higher Warberry, England), served in the Royal Navy between 1825-1883, ended his career in the rank of Admiral of the Fleet. Admiral Superintendent at Devonport Dockyard (December 1862-2 April 1866) and in 1870 responsible for an investigation into the design of the turret ships HMS Monarch and Captain.
