German catapult ship Friesenland lying at Brest, France according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 4 January 1942

An item reported that the German catapult ship Friesenland carried 4 long range seaplanes with her and was particulary suited for so-called hit-and-run air raids. There were three such vessels of which the positions were unknown since 31 July. At that moment was the Friesenland at Brest, France. The catapult ships had considerable potentialities.
