German Vulcan shipyard building Greek battle cruiser Salamis in 1912

In a letter dated Hamburg, Germany 23 August 1912 wrote the German naval supervisor to the Secretary of Navy dealing with the Vulcan shipyard that Greece ordered to built an armoured cruiser with as dimensions 144 (over all) x 22 x 7.43 metres and a displacement of 13,100 tons. Speed 21.5 knots. Armament 3x2-35.6cm/14” L/45 guns, 8-15.2cm/6” L/45 guns in casemates, 8-7,5cm/3” L/50 guns, 4-3.7cm guns and 2 submerged probably 21” torpedo tubes. Armour consisted of a belt 100 (fore)-30 (middle)-80 (aft), casemates 150 mm, gunturrets 200mm and conning tower 225mm. To be completed within 2 months.(1)

1. This yard was building the battle cruiser Salamis, sometimes also called Vasilefs Georgias, building ordered in 1912, laid down by AG Vulkan, Hamburg, Germany on 23 July 1913, launched on 11 November 1914, never completed and broken up in 1932.
