French cargo ship Kersaint 1921-1926 and Cap Varella 1926-1942 and Japanese cargo ship Teiko Maru 1942-1945

Sister ship Cap Tourane. Call sign FNLY. Owner in 1939 Chargeurs Réunis, Le Havre, France. Built by Atelier&Chantiers de la Loire, Nantes, France in 1921, requisitioned by Japan on 12 April 1942, renamed Teiko Maru on 28 April 1942, run aground near Shimonseki after striking a mine and total loss on 7 May 1945. Gross tonnage 8,009 tons, net tonnage 4,891 tons, deadweight 8,900 tons and as dimensions 417.7 x 55.1 x 34.5 x 15 (light)-38 (loaded) feet. Turbine propulsion, one screw, coal bunker capacity 910 ton and speed 12 (normal cruising) knots.
