Corfu, 15 June. An official announcement of Theodekti, admiral of the Greek navy dated Hydra 6 May made clear that it was a real war and not a war of pirates. So ships of foreign countries and their inhabitants were not to be harmed. The war was against pirates and other ottoman tyrants while the other countries and allies had to be respected. If any one wasn’t righteous or acting like the pirates of damaging a Greek vessel, harm a fellow Christian or attack properties of inhabitants of foreign countries he was to be seen as an enemy of Greece and his vessel to be destroyed while he was being a pirate.
