Drastic cuts in Australian naval expenses according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 9 April 1930

Melbourne, April. The federal government decided to drastic cuts in the costs of the navy. Around 500 men were to be dismissed and the actual strength was to be decreased to two cruisers, a seaplane tender and a destroyer reducing the expenses with 700,000 pound sterling.
