Failed sabotage effort at the Vinko Krstulovic Shipyards at Split, Yugoslavia according to a CIA report dated 31 January 1950

An item reported that apparently an attempt was done to sabotage the Vinko Krstulovic Shipyards at Split, Yugoslavia with a dynamite charge of 15 pound hidden in a drain pipe. The charge was found in the night of 6 January 1950 with the clock fuse set on 3.00 a.m. the next day. Despite an investigation of the UDB were no suspects arrested although it was believed that it was Italian Cominformist (1) shipyard personnel. Dock labourers informed the crews of two unidentified ships lying at that moment at Split.

1. A Cominformist was member of the Russian Cominform with as task spreading the communism world wide. Cominform (Information Bureau of the Communist and Workers’ Parties was the official forum of the International Communist Movement to coordinate the actions of Soviet directed Communist parties.
