British whaler Toward Castle active in 1829 according to the newspaper The Sydney Monitor dated Saturday 27 March 1830

An item reported the British whaler Toward Castle 390 tons active in the sperm whaling on 5 January 1829.(1)

Note

1. Building ordered on 18 January 1813, laid down as 6th rate HMS Conway for the British Royal Navy in May 1813, launched on 10 March 1814, sold to Smith&Co. in 1825 as merchant man Toward Castle , since 1828 owned by Birnie and lost during her third whaling voyage off Baja California, USA on 7 January 1838. Burthen tonnage 452 tons and as dimensions 89.9¼ (keel)-102.2 (over all) x 30.9 x 9.1 feet, schooner rigged, a crew numbering 50 men.
