An item reported that by 19 August that except for one enemy submarine in the vicinity of Cape Cod none enemy submarines were present within 200 miles of the US North Atlantic coast north of the Straits of Florida. However there were a lot of submarines active along the Northern Trans-Atlantic shipping routes and in the Straits of Florida-Eastern Caribbean area and further more some to the east-south eastward of Trinidad. Off Bahia, Brazil seemed to be two submarines active, sinking on 19 August one coastal schooner.
