Enemy submarine attacked off Cape Race according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 29 January 1942

An item reported that on 27 January an enemy submarine [German?] during crash diving was attacked by a surface unit 100 miles east south east of Cape Race. Wide spreading of oil slick was afterwards visible.
