Launched with yard number 1004 by Wm. Gray&Co. Ltd., Sunderland, England on 17 May 1928, delivered to owner/manager Van Nievelt, Goudriaan&Co’s Stoomvaart Maatschappij N.V., Rotterdam, Netherlands on 4 July 1928 and torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U 505 underway from Cape Town, South Africa towards Freetown, Sierra Leone 150 miles south of Cape Palmas (West-Africa)on 4 April 1942.
