An item reported that the German submarines were especially active over the weekend in the Atlantic theater. Many contacts were reported and at least six Allied merchant ships were sunk. Two ships part of an escorted convoy were lost, another ship off British Guiana, one in the latitude of New York, one in the Florida Straits, one in the Central Caribbean and one off Trinidad mostly suffering heavy personnel losses.
