Oil tanker route Lake Maracaibo-Dutch West Indies vulnerable according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 22 February 1942

An item reported that the local authorities in the Dutch West Indies were worried about the vulnerability of the oil tanker route Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela-Aruba-Curacao, Dutch West Indies. The special built shallow draught tankers could not be replaced and until now was 10% lost. The refineries on Aruba and Curacao depended for 100% on the these tankers transporting the needed crude oil.
