Piracy versus Dutch navy around Makassar according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 27 September 1844

According to the newspaper Javasche Courant dated 22 May based on a tiding from Makassar investigated the Dutch brig Arend which was stationed there the rumours dealing with 30 pirate prows which were crossing off the island Kalao Toa. At this island was on a beach a newly built prow found with a length of 50 feet destined for 2 rows of oars and by the natives known as prahoe Penjajap. She was burnt being suspected to be used for piracy.
