At Constantinople was 30 November 1828 a newly built 108-gun ship of the line named Mahmudie in presence of the sultan and other highly placed persons launched. There were however no signs of new preparations for war. The Russian ships blockaded the entrance of the Dardanelles effectively and none ships with stores could reach Constaninople coming from the Levant.
