Stockholm, 23 September. The newspaper Journal reported that Mr. Alvarado complained that the ships sold to the business house Michelson and Benedict were in fact destined for the former Spanish colonies [Colombia]. Colombian privateers on the hand stated that they in several cases had let Spanish owned cargo’s to go while they were on board of Norwegian and Swedish ships while pretending these cargo’s were property of merchants in Sweden or Norway. So its possible that the Swedish government would decided that this abuse of her neutrality from now on was forbidden. (1)
