British paddle frigate HSM Gorgon as part of British squadron off Spain according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 28 July 1838

According to a French newspaper of Bayonne dated 20 July were the remaining 360 soldiers of the British legion in Spain embarked at los Passages destined for Santander to join the army commanded by general Espartero. At San Sebastian was the large 18-gun steam frigate Gorgon (1) of 320 hp to arrive every moment to reinforce the squadron commanded by lord Hay. She was as men believed able to transport 3.000 men at once.

1. This must be the paddle frigate Gorgon, built of wood, originally 5th rate, launched at Perry, Blackwall 31 August 1837, dimensions 178’0”x 37’5” and of 1,1000 tons builders’ measurement. Armed with 2-10” guns and 4-32pdrs according to Colledge. Sold in 1864 to be broken up.
