The building of the Dutch merchant ships Atalante and Bernard, Hertog van Saxen-Weimar at Dordrecht and the Borneo and Stad Zierikzee at Zierikzee according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 3 August 1840

According to the Dutch newspaper Dordrechtsche Courant dated 31 July was that around 18.00 o’clock at the yard of B. van Limmen en Co. at the Lijnbaan with success the frigate ship Bernard, Hertog van Saxen-Weimar of circa 500 lasten launched. She was built for bookkeeper H. Brunner and the commissaries C van Welsenes and T.M. Santberg. Immediately after the launching was the keel laid down of the bark ship Atalante of circa 350 lasten for account of the company from J. van Wageningen Dz. En F. van Wageningen, master would be P. van Wageningen.

According to the Dutch newspaper Zierikzeesche Courant dated 30 July was that day the bark ship Stad Zierikzee of 400 Java lasten launched in the presence of many spectators from the communal yard, which yard was hired by Le Sage ten Broek. It was the first ship of this type built at Zierikzee, her builder was C. Mak. She was destined for the trade towards the Dutch East Indies and her master would be D.C.T. Sass. After the launching was the keel laid down of a third ship of the same size and destination to be named Borneo.
