Dutch whaler ’t Fortuin sold on Monday 17 October 1774 at Amsterdam, Netherlands

This fluytship was sold on Monday 17 October 1774 in the Nieuwezyds Heeren Logement at Amsterdam. Last commandeur was Pieter Oebles.(2) Newly fitted out in 1760. Dimensions in Amsterdam foot 112 x 29’6’” x 12’8”, height verdeck 6’9”, S 9½’. Price ƒ 15,800, subcharge ƒ 1,300. Hendrik de Haen.

1. Van Sante mentioned a Pieter Oeblesz who sailed in 1774 for director Hendrik de Laan (?) of Amsterdam as a Davis Strait whaler with as results 3 whales, 130 barrels of whale blubber and 150(?0 quardelen train oil.
