The Press Association Reuter at Washington reported that the American battleship Florida had become a speed of more as 22 knots and so being the fastest ship of the American battle fleet. This become possible when the coal fired boilers were converted into oil-fired boilers. (1)

1. The BB-30 laid down at the New York Naval Shipyard on 8 March 1909, launched on 12 May 1910, commissioned on 15 September 1911, decommissioned on 16 February 1931 and sold to be broken up on 6 April 1932.
